Badly Mistaken

Matthew 22:29 Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God”

The Sadducees said there was no resurrection. In order to make their case, they reasoned from their own understanding. They said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother.” (Matt 29:19) They then ask Jesus if a woman has seven husbands, which one would be her husband in heaven? But Jesus tells them: “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection, but they were wrong. Things have not changed over the years. There are many doctrines today that man believes in, but they are wrong. Why is that?

The key to understanding God’s truths is to understand the Scriptures and the power of God. What do you believe about God? Is your belief based upon man’s reasoning, or the truth of the Scriptures and the power of God? How can you know? Without studying, reading and searching out the Scriptures everyday you will not be able to know if what you believe is right or wrong. God gave us His Word and He expects us to know what it says. There is only one way to be certain you are not in error. Study the Word and learn the teachings of the Scripture and the true power of God.

Jesus replied to the Sadducees, “Now about the dead rising-have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!" (Mark 12:26-27)

The Sadducees had either “not read in the book” what the Word said or ignored it’s true meaning. Either way, they were “badly mistaken.” What about what you believe? Don’t be like the Sadducees and be in error. Read in the book and find the truth.
